Plasma Pedal blasts through funding goal

Riding the Plasma lightning on IndieGogo

Latvia-based Gamechanger Audio has a successful campaign on their hands via a current IndieGogo crowd-funding effort. Launched March 10, the campaign for the new Plasma Pedal closed its first day of funding at over $100,000 — far eclipsing the $30,000 target. As of March 15, the pedal funding was nearing $135,000.

The Plasma Pedal uses a series of continuous high-voltage discharges within a xenon-filled tube instead of using traditional LED circuits, transistors or vacuum tubes to produce overdrive. According to the builder, the Plasma user is essentially playing a bolt of electricity, and the electrical discharges produced by a user’s instrument are instantly converted back into an analog audio signal, producing a quick responsive and extremely heavy distortion.
